ENVIRONMENTAL GUIDELINES TO POULTRY FARMERS
As you plan to keep poultry around your home, you should plan to keep the environment safe for your neighbor's and yourself too.
Below are some of our suggestions for poultry farmers to avoid environmental pollution.
To avoid polluting the environment with ammonia odour, the following should be considered;
• Proper ventilation and free air flow over manure collection points to keep it dry
• Protect manure from rain, and running water and cover it to avoid dust and odours in storage areas.
• Manure should be protected from unwanted pests or insects which may decompose it and increase ammonia smell.
• Avoid disposing dead birds anyhow! Collect them on a regular basis, and incinerate them without polluting the environment.
• Design, construct, operate and maintain waste drying and storage facilities with a capacity of your farm.
