Have you been complaining about the cost of feeds?
You could do some of these major adjustments.
Let me try to break it down and see if u can compare.
1. Buy a 50kg sack of kienyeji feeds + 50kgs of maize germ and mix them.
Do free range, for hens above 3 months old, and feed twice a day (choose your feeding times).
2. Depending on the number of chicken you have, buy atleast sukuma wiki za 30 bob + onion daily...cut them into small pcs and feed them.
It's always advisable to add moringa, garlic or black jack leaves, twice or three times a week.
Chicks love this combination.
You can always substitute sukuma week with cabbages.
3. Be friends with mama mbogas, give them a sack wakuwe wanakuwekea izo sukuma wiki stalks...they are the most nutritious.
4. Lastly, remember kitchen remains are good to feed in the morning.
Not forgeting clean water which is paramount on daily basis.

NB:I said I do free range, in an enclosed area.
Chicken below 3 months, only let them roam around for 2-4hrs.
At the end of the month, u find your 50kg sack lasting twice than usual.
Try this if it works for you.
